Al-Shahba reports 5 new COVID-19 cases, along with Turkish shelling

Afrinpost – Special

Today, Tuesday, the Health Authority in Afrin Region announced that the number of COVID-19 cases in Al-Shahba canton has reached 19.

With 5 new infected cases recorded today, the active cases has reached 19, including two deaths.

This comes at a time when the Turkish occupation forces continue to shell these areas, without any regard to the possibility that the shelling will increase the spread of the epidemic among the forced displaced people of Afrin, as they targeted today the Tal Rifaat district with more than 10 mortar shells, but the losses were limited to material damages.

On Monday, August 10, humanitarian organizations operating in the region appealed to all countries of the world and its human rights and humanitarian organizations headed by the United Nations, the World Health Organization, UNICEF and the International Red Cross, calling on them to provide urgent medical and relief assistance in order to limit the spread of the Corona pandemic as much as possible and reduce the scale of the disaster.
