Afrinpost – Special

Dozens of settler families from Jabal al-Zawiya in the countryside of Idlib are heading amid reports that Russia and the Syrian regime are preparing a military campaign against the Islamic militias affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood, who call themselves “the Syrian National Army / Free Army”.

The Afrinpost correspondent in the center of the occupied Kurdish region of Afrin in northern Syria, said that new families from the towns of Jabal Al-Zawiya are heading towards the occupied Kurdish region, which has become a reservoir for extremists after the campaigns launched by the Syrian regime on the countryside of Idlib and Aleppo, which falls within the Turkish plan to change the demographic of Afrin.

The reporter pointed out that the new bringing process started yesterday, after families came to search for homes, and added that militants who were due to leave the city, wandering over the houses and asking for house contracts in search of a small mistake that justifies them to remove the Kurdish families from their homes, to enter the settlement families from Jabal Al-Zawiya instead.

The reporter also pointed out that the Turkish occupation established a camp in the village of “Avrazeh”, affiliated to the “Mobata” district, in preparation for receiving settlers in it, while observers believe that Ankara opens the camps in Afrin and opens the door for settlement in the region in order to support its project in changing its demography.

It is noteworthy that the cases of corona began to spread in Idlib, yet Ankara opened the door to bring more settlers to enter Afrin, which may be a factor contributing to the spread of the virus among the people of the occupied Kurdish region as well.
