Settlers steal sumac in “Darwish” village in Rajo countryside

Afrinpost – Special

The Turkish occupation and the militants of the Islamic militias affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood who call themselves the “Syrian National Army / Free Army”, and their settler families brought by the occupation from the countryside of Damascus, Homs, Hama, Aleppo, and Deir Al-Zour, etc., continue to plunder the goods of the occupied Kurdish region of Afrin in northern Syria, continuing seizure of all agricultural seasons, the last of which is the sumac harvest.

In the context, Afrinpost reporter in Rajo district center said that settlers in the district’s “Darwish” village are stealing the sumac season for Kurdish civilians, without the indigenous people being able to prevent them, as a result of the immunity enjoyed by the settlers by the gunmen.

The correspondent added that those thefts occur with indulgence from the Turkish occupation, where they allow settlers to steal sumac, which is one of the sources of income for the Kurdish people, noting that the settlers stole sumac belonging to the Kurdish citizen “Muhammad Bilal” in the village, and stressing that there are dozens of other citizens who have been stolen, as the theft continues.

Local sources had reported on the ninth of July, that the militants of “Samarkand” of the Turkish occupation, had launched a massive theft campaign for the sumac season, which included the fields of forcibly displaced people in several villages in “Bulbula / Bulbul” area and the villages are: (Ramadano, Haj Qasmo, Rota / Rotanli, Gundi Mezin).

Ironically, the gunmen do not steal secretly, and they are not embarrassed of that. Rather, they threaten the original owners of the fields if they harvest their crops.
