“Failaq Al-Sham” militia leader asks $ 50,000 to vacate a Kurdish citizen’s house

Afrinpost – Special

Afrinpost reporter in Raju district said that a leader of the “Failaq Al-Sham” militia called “Salil al-Khalidi” is asking a Kurdish citizen for $ 50000 to evacuate his house in the border village of Meydan Akbas, in the occupied Kurdish region of Afrin.

The reporter confirmed that the owner of the house returned to his village and his house soon after the occupation of Afrin (the end of March 2018), but the so-called “Khalidi” expelled him and his family from their home by assaulting him, and took over the house, and also took away a number of his livestock. So the Kurdish citizen was forced to live in an abandoned house in the same village.

Since the Turkish military occupation of Afrin region, activists said that the “Salil al-Khalidi”, who is from the city of Homs and a leader in the “Failq Al-Sham” militia, had in September 2018 expelled Kurdish families from the villages of Meydan Akbas, Kharabe Soluk, Qara Baba, and Firferkeh which is under his occupation, and settled armed families from Homs countryside in their place

On the twelfth of November 2019, a report of “Afrin Post” said that “Al-Khalidi”, of Turkmen origin, controls everything in Meydan Akbas, and Salil was initially raising camels / 6 heads /, but with the improvement of his economic status as a result of looting and pillaging, he stopped raising camels, and now runs agricultural business after seizing about 50 hectares of fertile agricultural lands in the vicinity of the town.
