Afrinpost – Special
Afrinpost managed to uncover a secret prison run by the militia “Al-Shamiya Front” affiliated with the Turkish occupation and the Muslim Brotherhood, which contains dozens of Kurdish kidnapees, and the militia practices various forms of physical and psychological torture against them.
The prison is located in the basement of the building of the “Local Administration Authority” during the previous autonomous-administration period, which is located in the vicinity of the “Kawa roundabout” in the center of Afrin, and is now known under the name “Amniyat Kawa”.
The prison is run by a militant of the “Al-Shamiya Front” called “Ahmed Jamal Kabso”, whereby the remaining Kurdish people are kidnapped from the militia-controlled sectors in the Ashrafieh neighborhood, and the kidnapees are detained, and then their families are contacted to extort them financially where the gunmen request ransoms.
The militia practices all kinds of physical and psychological torture against the kidnapees such as (Blanco – carpet of the wind – the wheel – electricity – pulling out the nails with the knife). In this context, the Kurdish kidnapped (N.Kh.), who is forty years of age, told Afrinpost what she had experienced during the kidnapping time in that prison.
(N.Kh.) said: I went to the city of Afrin to visit my brother, but the “Al-Shamiya Front” militia kidnapped me from its checkpoint in the vicinity of Kawa roundabout under the pretext of working for the former autonomous -administration, and I was taken to “Amniyat Kawa”.
She added: I was suspended from my legs from the ceiling with closed eyes, for only 3 minutes and beaten with water hose. I felt severe pain in all parts of my body. I would have died if I had not been landed on the floor. ”
She continued: “I was not alone in prison, but there were other Kurdish women in prison, and many young Kurds, and they provided us with one meal consisting of a loaf of bread and three grains of olives, and we were only allowed to go to the bathroom only once a day the one”.
The Kurdish kidnapped woman asserts that she did not possess the required financial ransom because they are very poor. She was transferred to the “Military Police” militia prison in Commerce High School, where she was sentenced to 3 months in prison, with a fine of 2100 Turkish Liras, where her brothers friends helped her paying the ransom.
The revelation of the new prison comes, while the kidnapees file at “Al-Hamzeh squad” militia prison, which was revealed at the end of last May, is still pending.
