The rise in the price of bread in the occupied areas by Ankara and the Islamic militias affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood who call themselves the “Syrian National Army / Free Army” sparked the anger of the citizens who went out to express their discontent.

On Monday, protests took place in the occupied areas of Tel Abyad and Soluk of North Raqqa, as dozens gathered in front of the civil councils, to protest the deteriorating living conditions and raise the price of bread, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

Some shop owners also closed, announcing the general strike, in protest against the decision to sell bread in Turkish lira, which equals more than 300 Syrian pounds, after its price was equivalent to half of this amount.

Many of the occupied areas in the north, particularly Idlib, began last week to deal officially with the Turkish occupation currency, at a time when Syria is witnessing in general a decline in the exchange rate of the Syrian pound, and a deterioration in economic conditions.

Last week, dozens of people in the villages of Bab Al-Khair, Jan Tamr and Umm Ashba in the eastern countryside of “Serekaniye/ Ras al-Ain” under occupation, demonstrated against the practices of Muslim Brotherhood militias affiliated with Turkey, which is the continuous assault on citizens and the theft of agricultural crops or burning them.

Since the occupation of these areas, militants have continued to persist in their violations, from kidnapping and detention to collecting zakat from farmers, and confiscating crops from those without formal ownership documents of the land.
