Afrinpost – Special
Russian forces raised their flags in the villages of Shahba and Sherawa for the first time after Turkey occupied Afrin in March 2018, after giving Ankara the green light to launch attacks on the Kurdish region.
Afrinpost correspondent in Al-Shahba said that the Russian forces had set their points and flags in the villages of Afrin province years ago, but they removed them and withdrew on the nineteenth of January 2018, one day before the start of the Turkish invasion of Afrin on the twentieth of January of the same year.
After that withdrawal, the Turkish invasion launched its air operations, and 70 Turkish aircraft bombed the Kurdish region, killing people, burning trees and destroying the stone, until it had completely occupied Afrin on the eighteenth of March 2018, by destroying the “Kawa the Blacksmith” statue in Afrin center.
For the Russian forces to raise their flags agin in the villages of the Shahba and Sherawa regions, while the correspondent of “Afrinpost” reported that the villages where the Russian forces raised their flags, are all from the direction of Tal Rifat in Al-Shahba, and the villages (Tanb, Bene, Soganke and Aqeeba) in the Sherawa district of Afrin (Not under the Turkish occupation).
These developments coincide with news information about the conduct of Russian-Turkish patrols in occupied Afrin today for the first time after the occupation of the region, without the reporter being able to obtain reliable information about the reasons for raising flags in the region.
Meanwhile, news has been received by “Afrinpost” that a meeting was held in Camp Kafr Janneh, which brought together both the governor of Izaz and the Turkish governor of Afrin with a Russian delegation, while the reasons for these new movements of the Russians in Afrin are not yet clear.
