The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said that the Islamic militias affiliated with the Turkish occupation and the Muslim Brotherhood continue to commit violations and assist committing them in the occupied areas of Afrin.
The observatory stated that settlers close to armed men continue to cut down the forests and trees in the village of “Ruta / Rattanli” of the “Mobata / Ma’batli” district, after obtaining approval from the “Samarkand” militia. The sources of the Syrian Observatory added that the price of a kilogram of firewood does not exceed 30 Syrian pounds, because it is prevented from being transferred to other areas for sale by the Turkish forces.
According to the sources of the Syrian Observatory, the procedures used to cut firewood and forests are the same in all areas of Afrin, where the area, the public property and confiscation are under the authority of the militia occupying the village or the region.
Afrin has witnessed, since the start of the Turkish occupation on March 18, 2018, the uprooting and burning of thousands of forest trees, olive trees and others, and militias have caused fires in the mountains of the region, under the pretext that there are cells of the “People’s Protection Units” “YPG”
