Afrinpost – Special
In light of the sharing of influence and interests between the Turkish and Russian sides, it appears that the two sides are paving the way to consolidate the Turkish occupation in northwestern Syria, including Afrin, by passing deals between the two sides at the expense of the indigenous Kurdish residents of Afrin, as the Turkish occupation seeks its full weight to establish the reality of settlement in it.
In this context, sources informed “Afrinpost” about the opening of a crossing between Afrin and the Shahba regions from the village of Annabka, which is occupied by Turkey, where it is known that Al-Shahba is located under the joint influence of Russia and the Syrian regime and the “Afrin Liberation Forces”, which sticks to the region being Possible area of operations in any future liberation operation, and mainly depends on securing an air cover linked to the conflict of Russian-Turkish interests, which may allow the return of Afrin to Syrian national sovereignty.
However, the steps taken by Moscow in this context are not evident in any way to that, with the halt of military operations in Idlib in favor of consolidating the spheres of influence and dividing Idlib into two parts between Ankara and Damascus, according to which Ankara obtained what it was calling for, from the occupation of Idlib at a depth of 35 km, which is feared to have been approved at the Putin-Erdogan meeting on the fifth of last March, after the killing of 36 Turkish soldiers in Idlib at the end of February.
A source from the village of Ma’arska, which is affiliated with the “Shara / Sharan” district, said that the Turkish occupation, in coordination with Russia, is preparing to open a crossing between Afrin and the Shahba regions, and that the crossing will be commercial and humanitarian.
The source pointed out that a garage will be opened in the village of Kafr Jannah, and that the crossing will be from Kafr Jannah to Maasarka – Mazra’a – Mariamin – Annabka and then to the left and exit from the Al-Naif soap factory to the international road between Gaziantep and Aleppo.
As for the date of the crossing’s opening, the source said that it will be opened after Eid Al-Fitr, and this comes after news that Russian vehicles went to the Kafr Jannah base a few days ago, where the source said that Russian soldiers had stationed at the base.
According to another source, the road between Gaziantep and Aleppo will be opened for trade, as part of the plan that was laid out in the Astana meetings.
