Some schools in the Shirawa district closed their doors, out of concern for the safety and life of children, according to what was reported by the Hawar News Agency on Monday, due to the continued bombing operations against Shahba and Shirawa by the Turkish occupation and Islamic militias affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood.
There are ten schools in Shirawa, distributed over 11 villages in the district, where they receive more than 1,800 students in them, in addition to the students of Al-Awda camp in Al-Ziyara village, and Al-Shahba camp in the village of Kashtara.
According to the Democratic Society Training Committee, because of fear for the lives of the students, due to the bombing of the Turkish occupation army and Muslim Brotherhood militants, schools were closed.
The Turkish Brotherhood assault is not confined to the students of Afrin in their forced diaspora in Al-Shahba, but rather extends it to the Kurdish students and teachers inside the occupied region of Afrin, while the displaced people of Afrin seek to face the consequences of the occupation of the region, and to search for alternatives that enable them to continue education of their children in their mother language, The occupied people of Afrin suffer from harsh conditions similar to those displaced ones.
On November 8, 2019, cross-sources in the occupied Afrin region stated that settler teachers are asking students in primary schools in the region to wear the hijab and Islamic clothing (which is a long black robe), and the sources added that the settlers who work in the education sector are mostly They work in Afrin schools according to forged certificates in Azaz, where there are specialized offices there that forge various certificates through their dowry with forged seals identical to those of the Syrian regime.
They added that these settlers tell the Kurdish students in the elementary grades such as the fifth and sixth grades (girls aged 11 and 12 years old), that they have grown up, and that they should wear the legal dress and “modesty” as they said, and Kurdish media sources stated that a large number of the people of Afrin They refrain from sending their children to schools, for fear of hatred and racism among the settlers and their children who do not stop insulting and insulting the Kurds continuously, as a result of the hatred cultivated by the Turkish occupation and its extremist organizations such as the Muslim Brotherhood.
These measures came as a complement to the procedures for changing the Kurdish identity of Afrin to another similar to that of the extremist Brotherhood, as the Directorate of Education in the local occupation council of the Turkish occupation had distributed, at the end of September 2019, a questionnaire to settlers with students under the name of “the will of the student’s guardian in Teaching his child the Kurdish language or not, with the aim of choosing the settlers to study the Kurdish language or not.
This questionnaire came with the aim of canceling the Kurdish language from the schools of Afrin region, in line with the policy of continuous demographic change since the Turkish occupation was applied to the region in March 2018, where the local occupation council seeks to cancel the Kurdish language from the curriculum and sufficing with Arabic and Turkish as two official languages, along with the language English.
It should be noted that the local occupation council in the district of Jenderes, had, at the beginning of the school year 2019, fired 24 teachers, under the pretext of not obtaining scientific degrees, and hired others from the settlers instead of them (who have false certificates).
