Afrinpost – Special
Islamic militias affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood, who are known as the “Syrian National Army / Free Army”, and under the direct supervision of the Turkish occupation intelligence, continue to fight the livelihood of the remaining indigenous Kurdish population in the occupied Afrin region, by imposing a set of royalties and practices to impoverished and constrained them in order to displace them for the benefit of the settlers loyal to them.
In that context, the Afrinpost learned from its sources that the “Ahrar Al-Sharqiya” militia started to impose a new royalty , on the remaining of the Kurdish indigenous population in the village of Jendiris.
The sources confirmed that the militia imposed on the Kurdish farmers in the border village of Hammam / Hamameh,of the district of Jenderes, a royality of $ 2 for each olive tree they owned, and the olives give fruit every two years at once, and the sources indicated that the royalty imposed restrictions will affect residents of the village, and its displaced people alike.
The Afrinpost managed, through its sources, to register some of the Kurdish farmers who were imposed to pay the royalty (Hussein Sabri $ 350 – Khalil Qashqu $ 300 – Mustafa Qashqu $ 300).
The forms and images through which the militants of the Turkish occupation and the Muslim Brotherhood impose royalties differ. In mid-January, the Afrinpost learned from its sources that Failaq Al-Sham militia imposed a new tax on the remaining Kurdish indigenous people in the villages of “Zarka” and “Chubana”,of the Raju district, where the economic office of the militia led by the so-called “Abu Al-Walid” informed the residents of its headquarters to collect two olive oil cans for each Kurdish family (52 families), whether their fields have borne fruit this year or not.
With the start of the olive season in 2019, settlers, accompanied by armed militia gunmen with bandits, went to olive groves in various villages, stealing olives and selling large quantities of them for their own benefit, and imposed royalties. In most villages, they have imposed an amount of 500 Syrian pounds on each olive tree owned by the Kurdish peasants, as a royalty regardless of whether or not this year yielded fruit.
