“Ahrar al-Sharqiya” militia cut down a 200-year-old tree in “Meskeh” in Afrin countryside

Afrinpost – Special

Islamic militias affiliated with the Turkish occupation and the Muslim Brotherhood continue to attack stone, people and trees, within the framework of the policies of the Turkish occupation aimed at striking the cultural identity of the occupied Kurdish Afrin region in northern Syria, as well as targeting each of the popular memories of historical, geographical and environmental milestones.

In this regard, the militants of “Ahrar Al-Sharqiya “militia cut down a perennial tree of the “Sendian Rumi / Gelberry” in the village of “Meskia / Maskanli” of the district of Jenderes, which is located in the valley of “Geli Burje”, in the west of the village and on the road leading to the village “Khalta” ”

The age of the tree is more than two hundred years, and it is considered one of the blessed trees according to the custom of the villagers, who preserved it despite all the difficult circumstances and harsh winters that passed over the region.

The oak tree is considered endangered, yet Islamic militants deliberately cut it down, in clear revenge for all geographical, environmental and cultural features in the region.
