“My city Afrin, which was run by a brave woman, today is run by backwards Islamist groups that exposed civilians in the city to all kinds of abuses such as kidnapping, killing, intimidation and abandonment of the area,” said Ilham Ahmed, head of the executive council of the Syrian Democratic Council. Forced displacement, a model that Turkey speaks of as a “safe area” and believes in it, while the indigenous people of Afrin live outside their homes and villages are forbidden to return to Afrin.
This came at a seminar organized by the Kurdish Foundation in Washington and attended by the head of the Kurdish political organization Necmettin Karim, the former governor of Kirkuk, and senators Chris Van Hollen, Marsha Blackburn, and Mark Warner, the Senate hosted Ms. Ilham Ahmed, the Executive Chairman of the Council for Democratic Syria.
Ahmad briefed the senators on the nature of life in the SDF areas, which secured a civil political system that protected all Arab, Kurdish, Syriac and Assyrian components in the region.
In the same vein, Ahmed said that Sare Kanieh, Ras al-Ain and Tal Abyad have been subjected to the same attack by Turkish-backed extremist groups, committing a number of massacres and violations since the cities were attacked, in addition to the process of resettlement and demographic change of the region through the settlement of extremist faction families in the city.
She blamed the United States for allowing these groups to break into an area liberated by women and civilian forces that believe in a democratic system, while all other areas in Syria are either subject to a “tyrannical” Baathist regime where there is no women’s freedom, no political pluralism, but a nationalist, one-party sectarian character ,Or areas such as the Factions supported by Turkey, which are impossible to live for most of the components of Syria, including moderate Arabs, where ruled by extremism and the complete exclusion of the other under the threat of atonement and murder.
She added, those who do not want to recognize our project politically in the Constitutional Committee and allowed Turkey to attack it invokes the Turkish veto against us, without regard to the realities of things and the fact that Turkey is targeting any democratic project in Syria.
Ahmad pointed to the great threat to the Christian component because of the fighting declared by Turkey against the peoples of northern Syria, asking the United States for radical political support for the areas of northeastern Syria and its project while ensuring the removal of the Turkish-backed factions, punishing the factions and placing them on the lists of terrorism and declaring the northern region on the border occupied by Turkey as a demilitarized zone.
