In an escalation of hostilities, Turkish forces intensified their shelling, using heavy artillery, on the villages of Myasa and Burj al-Qass in the Sherawa district of Afrin on the morning of December 25. This military action was accompanied by the continuous presence of Turkish reconnaissance aircraft in the region. The extent of the damages resulting from the bombardment is currently unknown.
Simultaneously, the Syrian army, in a separate development, launched intensive artillery and rocket attacks on positions held by the “Hayat Tahrir al-Sham” organization along the Kansafra and Al-Fatira axes in the southern countryside of Idlib. The affected areas also extended to the western outskirts of Aleppo, controlled by “Hayat Tahrir al-Sham”.
