The Turkish-affiliated militia known as “Suleiman Shah/Al-Amshat” continues its oppressive tactics, tightening its grip on Kurdish residents in the Mobata/Maabatli and Şiye/Shaikh al-Hadid districts of occupied Afrin. The militia, notorious for its coercion methods, threatens locals with persecution, imprisonment, or confiscation of their properties unless they comply with exorbitant tributes.
Our correspondent reports that the “Al-Amshat” militia is specifically targeting Kurdish citizens who struggle to meet the substantial tributes imposed on the olive season of absentees and displaced individuals.
The militia doesn’t shy away from employing violence during their raid campaigns on Kurdish villages. The number of vulnerable Kurdish citizens facing threats of persecution and imprisonment is alarmingly high, with instances of intimidation documented.
Noteworthy cases include citizen “Abdo Bakr” from Qarmitlaq, facing a two-thousand-dollar tribute, and citizens “Jumaa Ali, Muhammad Ali, Ismail Ma’mo, and Haitham Abdul Rahman” from Kaxrê\ Kakhour who are also targeted.
In Şiyê\ Sheikh al-Hadid town, citizens like “Muhy al-Din Muhammad” are coerced into providing a five-thousand-dollar tribute, while “Muhammad Muhammad” and “Abdo Ibrahim” and his brother a six-thousand-tributes.
The village of Marwaniya witnesses further exploitation, as citizens “Mustafa Abu Siamand and Hannan Hassan” are compelled to contribute 20 olive oil containers (each 16\liters).
In Mobata, citizens “Osman Khouja, Dalil Hassan, Jiwan Mustafa, Hamza Mustafa, Gulin Omar, Ismail Omar” face tributes, alongside citizens “Ahmad Hanan and Jumaa Hanan” from the village of Khalil, each required to pay $1500.
Horrifically, in the village of Hêkêçê, the “Al-Amshat” militia conducted a night raid, brutally assaulting citizens unable to pay the tribute on time, ultimately leading to the arrest of all members of the “Meho” family. Their imprisonment followed their inability to meet the hefty tribute initially set at thirteen thousand dollars, later raised to eighteen thousand dollars.
The plight extends to the brothers “Jamal Muhammad, Ali Muhammad” facing a tribute of seven thousand dollars and “Haitham Abdo” facing a tribute of three thousand dollars, all from the village of Hêkêçê.
