Special sources confirmed the occurrence of a security meeting between Turkish intelligence and a Turkish delegation with the leaders of the SNA militias. This meeting took place on the morning of September 14th at the Saraya Afrin building in the occupied city of Afrin.
The Turkish authorities closed off the roads leading to Saraya building, implementing heightened security measures and a significant deployment of armed militias, including “Suleiman Shah/Al-Amshat” and “Al-Hamza/Al-Hamzat” factions. Following the conclusion of the Turkish delegation’s meeting with the armed militia leaders, they headed towards the Basuta road in the Sherawa sub-district of the occupied Afrin countryside.
This development comes just hours after reports of preparations by “Hayat Tahrir al-Sham” to seize control of the Hamran crossing, connecting areas under the control of the Manbij Military Council in Manbij with areas controlled by Turkish-backed “Syrian National Army” militias in the occupied Jarabulus.
“Hayat Tahrir al-Sham,” with support from the “Shuhada Gathering” militia, sent substantial military reinforcements from Idlib city to Jarabulus several days ago, under the pretext of Arab tribal forces. However, these reinforcements have been deployed in Jarabulus under the cover of the Shuhada Gathering and the Islamic Movement of Ahrar al-Sham.
This situation has prompted Turkish-affiliated militias to be on high alert, mobilizing their forces in the occupied cities of Afrin, Azaz, and Jarabulus since the evening of September 13th. Additionally, the “Third Corps” militia has erected defensive barriers along the road connecting Azaz city and the village of Qatma in the Sherawa sub-district.
