On August 16th, a joint patrol comprising Turkish intelligence and the civil police militia opened fire in an attempt to apprehend a Kurdish civilian in the town of Rajo, in the occupied region of Afrin.
According to our correspondent, the incident unfolded as Mohamed Sabri Dawood, a resident of the village of Atmana in the Rajo subdistrict, who was driving his ailing father to the Afrin Hospital for a kidney dialysis session. The joint patrol intercepted their vehicle near the police station in Rajo and began firing at them, in an apparent effort to capture Mohamed. Shockingly, the incident took place on a public street with no regard for the presence of civilians in the vicinity.
However, Mohamed and his father managed to escape Rajo, fleeing to safety. The motives behind the pursuit and subsequent shooting remain unclear.
This incident comes just a day after the civil police militia fired shots amidst the crowded market in Rajo on August 15th. The gunfire occurred as they were chasing a fugitive through the market street, causing panic among civilians who rushed to find cover from the bullets.”
