Armed individuals have resorted to extortion by kidnapping the son of a Kurdish citizen from the village of Qorta in the Bulbul subdistrict. This incident took place in the occupied city of Afrin, where the armed group sought to intimidate the family and extort money from them.
According to our sources, the citizen, Mohamed Abu Ibrahim, owns a tailoring workshop and resides on Autostrad street in Afrin. He has been repeatedly targeted by extortion attempts. On August 15th, armed individuals stormed his house, searched both his residence and the tailoring workshop, and kidnapped his 34-year-old son, Ibrahim. They demanded a ransom for his release. Consequently, the father, Mohamed, had to pay five thousand dollars to secure his son’s release the following day.
This incident follows a similar occurrence on July 30th, 2023, when masked kidnappers operating two vehicles bearing plates associated with the “National Army” militia abducted another citizen, Rajab Al-Abou. The kidnappers demanded a ransom from the family for his release. The victim remained captive until August 5th, after his son paid a ransom of four thousand dollars, within the occupied city of Afrin.
