Woman Kidnapped by Turkish-Backed Militant Demanding Ransom for Crossing Border

afrinpost – Exclusive

The “Sultan Murad” militia has abducted an IDP woman who attempted to enter Turkish territory, demanding a payment of one thousand dollars for her release and permission to cross the Syrian-Turkish border.

Our correspondent reported that a leader in the “Sultan Murad” militia named “Abu Mahmoud Al-Asmar” kidnapped the IDP woman, identified as “Yara Al-Khalf Ibrahim,” in the Bulbul sub-district while she was attempting to enter Turkish territory through smuggling routes. In response, the Al-Amour clan in the Bulbul sub-district mobilized to exert pressure on the leader to release her.

Our correspondent added that the leader stipulated her release in exchange for receiving a payment of one thousand US dollars. After negotiations between the parties, her family paid the ransom, and she was allowed to cross the border and enter Turkish territory.

It is worth mentioning that the leader, “Al-Asmar,” has established a private prison where he abducts anyone attempting to enter Turkish territory in order to negotiate with their families for a financial ransom in exchange for allowing them to travel to Turkey.
