The statement did not specify his exact position within the organization. General Michael Corella, the commander of the US Central Command, affirmed the commitment of the United States to defeat the Islamic State in the region, emphasizing that ISIS remains a threat not only in the area but beyond.

The statement mentioned that there are no indications of civilian casualties from the airstrike, and the assessment is ongoing to determine any civilian injuries resulting from the operation. It further added that “the strike was conducted by unmanned aerial vehicles on Friday, the same drones that had been harassed by Russian fighters earlier in the day in a confrontation that lasted for approximately two hours.”
