Local sources have reported that on July 18th, the “Sulaiman Shah/Al-Amshat” militia abducted citizen “Khalil Abdou bin Aref” and handed him over to the Military Police militia in the town of Mobata/Ma’batli, on charges of dealing with the previous Autonomous Administration in Afrin.

The citizen “Khalil,” aged 35, hails from the village of Kukan in the Mobata sub-district. He had been displaced from Afrin to Aleppo after the occupation of the region in March 2018 and returned to his village on July 15th. However, just three days after his return, the “Al-Amshat” militia abducted him and delivered him to the Military Police headquarters, which subsequently transferred him to the Marateh prison in Afrin. He is accused of belonging to the Asayish during the previous Autonomous Administration.

In a related incident, on July 17, 2023, “afrinpost” reported that Turkish authorities arrested five citizens in the Rajo and Jindires sub-districts on charges of having ties to the previous Autonomous Administration. Two of them were released after paying a financial ransom, while the fate of the others remains uncertain.
