Brutal Attack Targets Kurdish Citizen in Afrin, Aimed at Home Eviction

afrinpost – Exclusive

Violations against the residents in the occupied region of Afrin continue as Turkish-backed SNA groups and their supporters engage in acts of aggression, while security lapses and lack of accountability prevail.

Sources reported that a group of IDPs, originally from Eastern Ghouta in the Damascus countryside, assaulted a Kurdish citizen on the occasion of Eid al-Adha, June 27, with the aim of forcing him to leave his rented house in the occupied city of Afrin.

According to the sources, the citizen, Mohammed Khayr (58 years old), is a Kurdish resident from the occupied Bab region. He has been married in Afrin and has been residing there even before the Turkish-backed militias took control of the Kurdish region. However, he had been subjected to continuous harassment by the militia-affiliaed IDPs until they physically assaulted him two days ago, resulting in a broken rib.

Mohammed Khayr filed a complaint against the attackers with the military police of Afrin, but they forced him to withdraw it.

It is worth mentioning that on June 11, 2023, an armed group affiliated with the “Faylaq al-Sham” militia, which occupies the village of Sheikh Mohammedli in the Rajo sub-district, launched an assault using firearms and iron tools against the elderly citizen Kamal Hassan Manan (65 years old) while he was guarding his wheat crop. This resulted in head injuries and loss of consciousness until some locals arrived the following morning and transported him to a medical center for treatment.
