Citizen Released After Paying Ransom in Occupied Afrin

the Turkish-affiliated military police militia in the occupied city of Afrin has released citizen Mohammed Abid, aged 33, on Wednesday, following the payment of a hefty ransom amounting to $2,500.

Abid, who works as a gravel transporter and resided near Al-Karama School in the city of Afrin, was apprehended by the military police on April 29, 2023, on charges of perfoeming mandatory military service during the previous Autonomous Administration in Afrin.

The Turkish-affiliated forces had detained Abid along with six other individuals facing similar allegations, yet only Abid was granted his freedom after fulfilling the ransom demand. The fate of the remaining detainees remains uncertain, as they continue to languish in captivity.
