Sources have reported that the Turkish-backed militia “Ahrar al-Sharqiya” has forcefully seized two pieces of land in Rajo town, with the intention of building residential buildings and an alleged shelter. The land belonged to a Kurdish citizen named Hanif Mohammed Jameel.
Abu Heddo, one of the leaders of the militia, was responsible for the seizure of the land. The owner, Hanif, was threatened with violence if he objected to the seizure. Exclusive video footage obtained by afrinpost shows the first piece of land being prepared for construction, with land divided into real estate plots and foundations laid for residential buildings. The second piece of land was prepared to establish an alleged shelter camp.
The Turkish-backed militia has been accused of using violent and coercive tactics to expand its presence in the region, which has caused concern among local residents. Furthermore, Abu Heddo received substantial funds from unknown sources to finance the settlement projects following the earthquake that struck northern Syria and southern Turkey in February 2023.
This development has raised serious concerns about the intentions of the Turkish-backed militia and its impact on the local population. The seizure of land belonging to Kurdish citizens is seen as an attempt to change the demographics of the region. Knowing that many leaders of “Ahrar al-Sharqiya” participate in these settlement projects, including (Abu Rabee, Abu Talib, Abu Taimiya, and others).
