Pro-Turkey IDPs in Afrin Allegedly Claim Destroyed Houses as Their Own to Receive Aid

afrinpost– Exclusive

According to our reporter in Afrin, IDPs, who were brought in by Turkey, in the village of Baadina, located in the Rajo sub-district, are making false claims that the houses destroyed during the 2018 Turkish aggression on Afrin are their own homes that collapsed due to the earthquake.

“They are allegedly doing this in order to receive aid and assistance from relief organizations. It has been reported that these IDPs are even taking photos of their families in the previously destroyed houses, which were actually damaged by Turkish shelling and not the recent earthquake”, the reporter added.

On March 13, 2018, the Turkish forces used artillery and aviation to shell the village of Baadina, causing damage to nearly 600 houses. Out of these, approximately 70 houses sustained moderate damage, while roughly 43 houses were completely destroyed.

Activists on Facebook claim that military police raided some tents in Jindires yesterday, Wednesday, and seized them. The reason for this was that the tent owners were allegedly not earthquake victims and were not residents of the city.
