Our reporter in Action stated that the members of the Turkish-backed “Suqour al-Shamal” militia checkpoint at the junction of the village of Gamruk, in the district of Shara, are financially extorting the Kurdish people passing through the checkpoint under the threat of fabricating the charge of cooperating with the former Autonomous Administration and handing them over to the Turkish authorities.
The reporter added that about a week ago, the checkpoint personnel stopped two Kurdish citizens who were riding a motorcycle and demanded a transit fee of 400 Turkish lira from each of them, threatening them with fabricating charges and handing them over to the Turks if they refused to pay the fee.
The checkpoint is known, according to many sources in the village, for extorting Kurdish citizens, in addition to the royalties imposed on passers-by.
