afrinpost – Special

Our reporter in Afrin stated that gunmen affiliated with the Turkish-backed “Jaysh al-Islam” militia cut down olive trees indiscriminately along the canal of the Afrin River and the utility road extending from Al-Qaws checkpoint to the electricity company station in the vicinity of the occupied city of Afrin, and then transported the firewood to Idlib to sell it in its markets.

The random cutting down of trees included the lands of a number of Kurdish citizens, namely: “Nuri Najjar” from the village of Ain Dara, Sheikh Hess and Amo families from the people of Teranda village, “Hassan Hassan and Nuri Abdo” from the village of Qibar, and Sheikh Salim family from the village of Anabkeh.

In the same context, “an element of the Turkish-supported “Malakshah” militia cut down an entire olive field on the outskirts of the village of Qurt Qulaq, about 80 trees, belonging to the forcibly displaced citizen “Hannan Abdel Rahman”.” our reporter said.

The reporter added that the element sold most of the wood in Idlib, at a price of 135 dollars per ton, and has been able to sell seven tons so far.

it is worth noting that gunmen from the Turkish-backed militias cut down more than 115 olive, cypress and pomegranate trees from the lands of villagers of Qastal Kishk, Teranda and Ain Dara in the occupied countryside of Afrin to trade in their wood.
