High school students protesting in occupied cities of Azaz and Afrin

Dozens of students protested yesterday, Monday, in front of the school gate of Faisal Kaddour in the old neighborhood of Afrin and near the old Saraya building in the center of Afrin, denouncing the manipulation of the Education Directorate in the so-called Syrian Interim Government with the results of secondary exams.

They accused the directorate of corruption, nepotism, and manipulation of exam results due to the failure of a large number of students, which exceeded the failure rate by about 75 percent.

Hundreds of high school students in the city of Azaz demonstrated today, Monday, against the Directorate of Education, as angry students stormed the directorate building, and removed the Turkish flag on the building’s wall, in addition to erase the writing “fraternitation has no limits” and all loyal slogans and graphics in the Directorate building.

In Marea, high school students called for a demonstration and a sit-in on Tuesday, in front of the Education Directorate building in the city, to protest against the failure of large numbers of students in exams.

On Sunday, August 7, the students called for angry protests against the Turkish authorities’ interference in the curricula of the Education Directorate loyal to it and imposing a curriculum that suits the Turkification policy.

It is worth noting that on Sunday, the Turkish-backed military police severely beat a high school student who tried to erase the phrase “Fraternisation has no limits,” and took him to its security center in the city of Azaz, accusing him of incitement against the Turkish state.
