afrinpost – Special

This morning, Saturday, the town of Jenderes witnessed a general strike, and the protestors burned the electricity company and cut off streets, against the backdrop of the killing of “Fawaz al-Khalif” (Abu Khadija al-Diri), a “Jaish al-Sharqiya” militant.

“Al-Sharqiya” militia imposed a security cordon around the headquarters of the “Civil Police” militia in the town of Jenderes, demanding the members who shot at the protestors and caused the death of thier member during the protest, which took place yesterday, Friday, after the recent hike in electricity price.

While the local council in the city of Afrin documented and collected the names of the protestors in a list of instigators of chaos and vandalism.

Currently, calm prevails in the town of Jindires. As the “Civil Police” militia withdrew all its checkpoints from the town of Jindires, after great alertness and tension witnessed this morning.

While the electricity is still cut off in Afrin and Jindires due to the acts of sabotage that affected the company.

It is worth noting that the electricity company in the city of Azaz was forced to reduce the subscription price, and set the size of the first consumption bracket at 200 kilowatts instead of 100 according to the old price (2.45 Turkish liras per kilo).

Residents of areas under the control of Turkey and its armed militias in the countryside of Aleppo complain about the policy and work of the electricity companies operating in the area, most notably the frequent power cuts.

Companies operating in the countryside of Aleppo used to hold the Turkish source responsible for raising the price, and cutting the power for hours on the pretext of maintenance and rationing.

The people suffer from high electricity prices compared to the deteriorating economic situation, and this has led to what the cities and towns of the northern and eastern countryside of Aleppo witnessed, where protests and violence break out.
