Headquarters of Turkish governor targeted in Jindires, Afrin

afrinpost – Special

Unidentified persons targeted, at about two o’clock in Saturday afternoon, with an incendiary device, the headquarters of the Turkish governor, which is located in the municipality building (Beit Al-Shaab – Mala Kal) in the town of Jindires, without being able to know who was behind the attack, where the Military Police in Jindires district in the countryside of Afrin are still on high alert until today, Monday.

According to our sources in the district, the suspicions about the attack revolve around the militants of the “Al-Sharqiya Army” militia, one of whose members was shot by the bullets of the “civil police” during the protest that took place last Friday against the hike in electricity prices by the Syrian-Turkish Electricity Company and the Turkish-backed local councils.

The sources indicated that the headquarters of the Turkish governor was closed, as well as all departments, councils, and public institutions, following the attack on the governor’s headquarters and the expansion of the angry demonstrations, noting that the Turkish convoys that were moving on a daily basis between Turkey and Jindires through the Hammam border crossing have completely disappeared since Saturday.

The sources added that the tension still hangs over the district, amid rising feelings of resentment among the IDPs over the Turkish military presence against the background of the deteriorating living conditions.

The city of Jindires, as well as the city of Afrin, suffers, for the fourth consecutive day, from a complete power outage, after the angry and violent demonstrations and violence that break out last Friday in most of the cities and towns of the occupied north of Syria, which resulted in the killing of two demonstrators and the injury of others in Jindires and Afrin by the bullets of the pro-Turkey “civil police”.

The decision to cut off the electricity was taken as a collective punishment due to the demonstrations, according to some IDPs, and affected all aspects of life.
