Afrinpost – Special
The Afrinpost correspondent reported that the Turkish occupation authorities this year issued instructions to prevent the export of Afrin olive oil this season directly to Turkey, and ordered the Islamic militias to follow a new route to ship the oil to Aleppo, and from there to the city of Hewler in the Kurdistan region in order to allow it to enter Turkish territory.
The correspondent added that, according to other sources, the new way to ship oil will be from Aleppo to the city of Latakia, from which it will be exported abroad, and the details of the mechanism by which the oil is transported and exported and the parties benefiting from it are not known, because it is known that the movement of roads and goods transported through it are subject to strict control in regime-controlled areas.
The reporter indicated that there are people who buy oil from the people and export it to Aleppo after they are allowed, and who are known to work to transport oil to Aleppo are: O.S., F. A. and M.O.
On the other hand, the page “Supporting Afrin Sons’ Projects” published a post on Facebook in which it said that both J. M in Germany and A.H in Denmark receive oil there. The page also mentioned that the “Sheikho” company in Afrin ships the oil to Aleppo and from there to the port of Lattakia and from there abroad.
According to a source to our correspondent, there is a form of coordination between the Islamic militias that occupy Afrin and steal oil and people from the Syrian regime side to receive oil at the crossings, and that the process is yielding huge financial gains, given the free access to olives and oil in Afrin due to the theft operations.
It is noteworthy that many media reports exposed the oil theft operations in the 2018 season, and the Turkish Minister of Agriculture admitted and justified that this was done to prevent the occurrence of trade revenues in the hands of those he described as “terrorists”. The total sales of stolen oil from Afrin in European markets, according to media reports, reached about $ 130 million. .
