A militant of the “Ahrar Al-Sharqiya” militia affiliated with the Turkish occupation and the Muslim Brotherhood attacked an imam in Al-Mahmudiyah neighborhood when the imam – a Kurdish sheikh – while delivering the sermon, prohibited theft and said that theft is forbidden.

A citizen told the “Afrinpost” reporter at the district center, that the gunman stormed the mosque of Osama Abu Zaid and with his weapon without asking permission or respecting the sanctity of the mosque, and added: “The gunman threatened the imam not to say that, and said that what they did and do in Afrin is taking spoils, not stealing.

The citizen also added: “This happened last Friday, in Al-Mahmudiyah mosque, against a Kurdish imam from the village of Qantareh of the district of Mobata / Ma’batli called “Haj Amin”, where the gunman threatened him not to repeat these words.”

The citizen continued: “The imam of the mosque decided not to preach in the mosque anymore, after being deliberately humiliated by this armed man.”

The “Ahrar Al-Sharqiya” militia is one of the most militias that have committed and commit violations against Kurdish civilians in the occupied Afrin region, including theft and looting everything that they reach.
