Afrinpost – Special
Islamic militias affiliated with the Turkish occupation and the Muslim Brotherhood intentionally burn fields planted with seasonal crops, especially wheat and barley, in addition to deliberate burning of forests, especially after the military occupation was applied to the Kurdish region of Afrin in March 2018, as part of its efforts to harm Kurdish farmers whether in Al-Shahba or northeastern Syria.
In the context, the militias of the “Syrian National Army” have set fire to olive trees belonging to the people of the villages of “Beneh / Abbin” and “Basleh / Basalhaya” in Sherawa District in Afrin countryside, burning dozens of trees and crops of wheat and barley.
The Afrinpost correspondent in Sherawa said that during the evening hours, Islamic militias set fire to olive trees, wheat and barley crops for the people of the villages of “Beneh” and “Basleh” in Sherawa.
He added that the fire spread more than 800 meters between the village of “Basleh” and “Beneh”, including olive trees and wheat and barley crops, while the people sought to put the fire out, but the Islamic militias that occupy the village of “Basleh” fired live bullets at the people.
In a related framework, yesterday evening, villages in Al-Shahba were hit with artillery shelling by the Turkish occupation army and Islamic militias, as the shelling reached the villages of (Hassajk, Tal M’diq, Samouqa, Hassiya and Sad al-Shahba).
With the incessant shelling and the occupation militias deliberately setting fire to Al-Shahba and the east of the Euphrates areas, and the weak capabilities, it is difficult for the residents to be able to control the fire and put it out.
Afrin has witnessed, since the start of the Turkish occupation on March 18, 2018, the uprooting and burning of thousands of forest trees, olive trees and others, and militias have caused fires in the mountains of the region, under the pretext that there are cells of the “People’s Protection Units” hiding there.
