Militants Destroy Olive Trees in Afrin, Impose Fees on Farmers

afrinpost-exclusive

Our correspondent reported that on Thursday, December 12, militants cut down 23 olive trees belonging to a local farmer, Abdul Manan Ahmed, near the village of Awkan in the Bulbul sub-district. The trees were felled at the trunks, reportedly for firewood and trade purposes.

Additionally, in areas controlled by the “Hamzat Division,” olive farmers are prohibited from pruning their trees without prior approval from the group’s “economic offices.” Farmers must obtain permission and pay a fee of $0.50 per tree to carry out any maintenance on their olive groves.
