Our correspondent reports that the Faylaq al-Sham militia has imposed extensive levies on olive farmers in the village of Dîkê/Dik in Bulbul sub-district, collecting a total of 260 cans of olive oil (each containing 16 kilograms of pure oil). In addition, the militia has demanded one can of oil per 60 olive trees under the pretext of providing “field protection.”
Meanwhile, in the village of Qasim in Rajo sub-district, the Ahrar al-Sharqiya militia is enforcing a levy of $1 per non-bearing olive tree and $2.50 per bearing tree. On top of these fees, they are also charging a “protection tax” of one can of oil for every 100 olive trees.
