On April 1st, as Eid approaches, Turkish-backed militias imposed a financial levy under the guise of “Eidiyah” on vendors and shop owners in the occupied city of Afrin.
According to our correspondent, the “Sultan Murad” militia imposed a levy, referred to as Eidiyah, on shop owners along Rajo Street. Shop owners were required to pay 500 Turkish lira, while owners of old stalls were charged 300 Turkish lira, and owners of new stalls were charged 2500 Turkish lira. In return, they were allowed to display and sell their merchandise until the first day of Eid.
Our correspondent further reported that all side roads leading to Rajo Street, where the main market is located, were closed to large vehicles. Additionally, patrols by military and civilian police militias were active 24/7 in the center of the occupied city of Afrin.
