afrinpost-Exclusive

Turkish authorities have recently released Mr. Ahmed Omar Suleiman and his son, Mustafa, residents of Sheikhoutka village in the Mobata district, after a two-week detention period. The release follows the confiscation of approximately 2.5 kilograms of gold from their jewelry store in the occupied city of Afrin, according to our reporter in the city.

Military police detained Mr. Ahmed Omar Suleiman (52 years old) and his son Mustafa (26 years old) on February 15th from their residence near Al-Arubah School in Afrin’s old neighborhood.

Investigations revealed the confiscation of the gold from the inventory of “Suleiman Jewelry,” a business owned and managed by Mr. Suleiman’s son Mustafa. This action was linked to a financial transfer of $2,500 sent from Aleppo city, attributed to Mr. Hassan Sheikho from Meydana village in the Rajo district. Mr. Sheikho is currently detained on vague charges associated with the Newroz roundabout explosion on February 6, 2024.

Additionally, it is noted that eight Kurdish citizens, including a child, were arrested from their residences near Newroz roundabout on suspicion of involvement in a motorcycle explosion in central Afrin. The explosion resulted in civilian injuries, including a child, as well as the injury of two militants from militias affiliated with the “Syrian National Army” of Ankara, alongside damage to multiple vehicles and commercial establishments.
