Charitable organizations and a Turkish organization completed the construction of a new settlement on February 29th, marking the fifth in the region between the villages of Kafrum and Qurtqulaq in the Sharan district of Afrin. Turkish authorities continue their demographic change policy in the occupied Kurdish region, with the construction costs almost entirely covered and investment opportunities provided to Turkish contracting companies.
According to North Press Agency, a local association completed the construction of a new settlement near the village of Qurtqulaq, west of the center of Sharan district, northeast of Afrin city.
The settlement comprises approximately 100 residential houses, along with a mosque and a school dedicated to it, with construction supported by Palestinian funding and supervised in coordination with the Turkish organization AFAD.
This new settlement is the fifth in the area between the villages of Kafrum and Qurtqulaq, as construction operations for four settlements near the village of Kafrum were observed recently.
It is worth mentioning that the organization “Helping Hand for Relief and Development International” and the Turkish AFAD, in coordination with other Turkish organizations, inaugurated on February 25th, 2024, a new settlement called “Helping Hand Village” in the village of Kafrum in the Sharan district, consisting of over 500 residential apartments, making it the third in the same village.
On February 21st, 2024, the organization “International Development Foundation,” supported by the Turkish Diyanet Foundation, completed the construction of a new settlement near the village of Kafrum in the Sharan district. It consists of ten-story buildings, expected to be delivered and distributed by mid-year.
On the same day, the Turkish Diyanet Foundation laid the foundation stone for a new settlement named “Al-Madina Village” near the completed settlement. Its construction is expected to be completed within 300 days, comprising around 80 residential apartments.
These settlements mark the fifteenth in the Sharan district, with approximately forty settlements established in the occupied villages and towns of Afrin, most of which were built with support and funding from Palestinian, Qatari, and Kuwaiti Islamic charities.
