Today, after midnight, the Turkish army, stationed at its military bases in the occupied areas of Mare’, Azaz, and Afrin, unleashed intense and violent rocket attacks on the villages of Sheikh Issa, the vicinity of Tal Qarah, the vicinity of Tal Rifaat, Baluniyah, and Ain Daqna in the Shahba region. The shelling also targeted Maranaz, Malikiyah, and Shwargha in the Sherawa sub-district of Afrin’s northern Aleppo countryside. The extent of losses is currently unknown.
The shalling continued into the late hours of the morning on January 13, with approximately five shells falling near the camp of the “Ahrar al-Sham” militia. This prompted residents near the camp in the village of Khalta in the Sherawa sub-district to flee towards the occupied city of Afrin.
This bombardment follows the targeting of the Turkish army, positioned at the Scientific Research Base on the outskirts of Azaz in the northern Aleppo countryside, on January 12. Rocket attacks hit the villages of Malikiyah, Shwargha, and Marnaz in the Sherawa sub-district of Afrin.
