Turkish-backed militias persist in their exploitation of fruitful and forest trees, indiscriminately cutting them from the fields and natural and artificial forests owned by Kurdish citizens. This destructive practice not only inflicts economic and environmental harm on the Afrin region but also extends its repercussions beyond its borders.
According to our correspondent, militias affiliated with “Sultan Murad,” “Al-Hamzat,” “Samarkand,” and the “Jaish Al-Sharqiya” forcibly cut down 128 olive trees and several pine trees in the occupied countryside of Afrin.
In detail, the security forces linked to the “Sultan Murad” militia cut down the remaining pine trees in Al-Zaidiya neighborhood outskirts of the occupied city of Afrin on January 3.
In the village of Kafr Safra, armed individuals from the “Samarqand” militia completely cut 35 olive trees owned by the forcibly displaced citizen Abdulhannan Khalil. Additionally, they cut 20 trees belonging to Khalil Abdelhamid from the residents of Ma’rate and 18 trees from the field of the brothers Ahmad and Rashid Othman.
On the road leading to the Jindires district, armed individuals affiliated with the “Al-Hamzat” militia partially cut 40 olive trees owned by the citizen Riyad Ahmed from the village of Korkan, despite his residence in the occupied city of Afrin.
