Citizen Detained Without Clear Reasons at Military Police Checkpoint in Afrin

afrinpost-Exclusive

Our sources in Afrin reported that a checkpoint manned by the Military Police militia at the crossroads of Trenda village, located at the southern entrance of the occupied city of Afrin, apprehended a resident from Baa’e village in the Sherawa district on January 24th, without providing clear reasons for the arrest.

Suleiman Jumaa Muhammad, a 39-year-old citizen, was detained by checkpoint personnel while he was heading to obtain identification from the local council. It is worth noting that he had been deported from Turkish territory about two months ago, heading towards northern Syria.

On another note, Turkish authorities released citizen Sheikh Mannan Kiro and his wife Gulê on January 28th, following a four-day detention in the occupied city of Afrin. Sheikh Mannan, known as “Al-Jolaq,” has a hand disability and operates a passenger transport vehicle servicing his village Khalta and the city of Afrin.
