Militias affiliated with the Turkish-backed “Syrian National Army” persist in assaulting trees, particularly olive trees, through systematic cutting operations to engage in the illegal trade of timber, enhancing their income in the occupied region of Afrin in northwest Syria.

In a recent incident, unidentified gunmen cut down 55 olive trees owned by “Mustafa Ahmed,” a resident of the village of Jwaiq, from his field on the outskirts of the occupied city of Afrin, as reported by our correspondent.

Earlier this month, on December 24, afrinpost reporters documented the ruthless cutting of approximately 325 olive trees by militia members in various villages of the occupied Afrin countryside, illustrating a concerning pattern of unrestrained destruction.
