Reliable sources confirmed that the “Hamza Division\Al-Hamzat” militia has imposed a production levy equivalent to 50 tin containers (each 16 liters) of olive oil on the residents of Gewrika village in the Jindires district of the occupied Afrin region.
According to the sources, the olive oil production levy is not the sole burden placed on the village residents. The “Hamza Division” militia has also imposed a protection fee, amounting to half a dollar for each olive tree, regardless of whether it is fruitful or not, collecting a total of $12,000.
Moreover, the militia has imposed a levy on power of attorney owners, who act on behalf of the displaced olive field owners from Afrin, taking care of their lands. This levy amounts to 50% of the produce for fields owned by individuals residing in Aleppo and 25% for those residing in European countries.
It is noteworthy that the “Hamza Division” militia increased the levies on agents within its sectors to reach 50% of the olive crop and oil production, up from the previous 29%. This enforcement covers the villages of Jwaiq, Dargireh, Marateh, Bablit, Kokba, Kafr Zeet, Telfeh, Kafrdaleh, and Faqira in the Afrin and Jindires.
Power of attorney owners were summoned to the headquarters, and they were informed that these percentages do not include labor costs for harvesting and transportation, the price of metal containers, and the council and press percentages at the oil press.
