Two Detainee Brothers Released on Ransom in Afrin

On October 2nd, the Turkish authorities released the two brothers, “Luqman and Othman Hanan Mohammed,” residents of the village of Sharqiya in the Bulbul sub-district, after they paid a ransom of $600 in the occupied city of Afrin.

The Turkish-affiliated Civil Police militia had arrested the two brothers, “Luqman” aged 50, and “Othman” aged 45, on September 23, 2023, on charges of collaborating with the previous Autonomous Administration in Afrin.

Meanwhile, their third brother, “Mustafa” aged 44, remains detained since early September 2023, by the Turkish intelligence and its affiliated military police, without clear reasons for the detention.
