Various Islamist militias affiliated with the Syrian National Army, under Turkish control, persist in their assaults on civilians and the violation of their rights, with no ethical or legal restraints in place due to the prevailing security chaos in the Turkish-occupied areas of northern Syria.
Our correspondent in Afrin reported that on October 27, armed members of the “Jaish al-Nukhbah” militia brutally assaulted Mahmoud Mohammed Seydo (30 years old) and his father Yousef (67 years old), residents of the village of Sheikhotka in the Mobata sub-district of Afrin.
The correspondent explained that militants belonging to a group led by an individual known as “Abu Nasser” demanded goods from a grocery store owned by Mahmoud Saydo, located on the road to Gamruk in the center of the village of Sheikhotka. Mahmoud Saydo refused, citing outstanding debts that Abu Nasser’s group owed him, prompting the armed individuals to physically assault him and his father.
It’s worth noting that an armed member previously assaulted a young man, Salam Bilal (23 years old), on October 13 at the Newroz roundabout, striking him with a rifle butt under the pretext of not granting passage to his vehicle. The assailant detained and imprisoned him for three days, subjecting him to torture, before releasing him on October 16.
