In the early hours of October 28, Turkish forces targeted the vicinity of the villages between Abbin and Aqibah and Al-Ziyara in the Sherawa sub-district in Afrin, northern Syria. They fired more than 50 rocket and artillery shells, all while Turkish reconnaissance aircraft continuously patrolled the region. The extent of the damage remains unknown at this time.
In response to this offensive, Russian fighter jets launched a series of intense airstrikes today, targeting the positions and fortifications of the “Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham” and “Turkistan Islamic Party” organizations in the forested areas near the Arab Saeed village and Ain Sheeb in the western countryside of Idlib. Simultaneously, the Syrian government’s forces fired heavy explosive shells at the villages of Al-Fateerah and Knasfara in the mountainous Jabal al-Zawiya region in the southern countryside of Idlib.
On October 27, the Turkish military shelled the villages of Maranaz and Al-Shawaraghah in the Sherawa district of Afrin’s countryside with heavy artillery. Furthermore, the Syrian government’s forces successfully downed a Turkish drone attempting to target their positions along the Tamoura axis in the northern countryside of Aleppo.
Meanwhile, in western Aleppo, the Syrian government’s forces engaged in an intense exchange of heavy artillery and rocket fire with the “Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham” organization on multiple fronts, including Kafr Ammah, Al-Qusur, and Kafr Taal.
Further north, along the axis of the village of Al-Beida in Jabal al-Turkman in the northern Latakia countryside, the “Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham” organization initiated an assault under the cover of intensive artillery fire against the Syrian government’s positions. This offensive led to fierce confrontations between the two parties.
