Turkish Authorities Arrest Kurd Returnee to Afrin

afrinpost-Exclusive

On September 27, Turkish authorities, believed to be Turkish intelligence, arrested Mr. Salah Bari Mohammad near the Old Mosque in the occupied town of Jindires, accusing him of performing compulsory military service during the previous Autonomous Administration in Afrin.

According to our sources, Mr. Salah, aged 41, had been residing in Turkey and returned to Afrin about two months ago.

The day before, Turkish authorities had arrested Mr. Khalil Hussein Abdo, a resident of Badina village in the Rajo subdistrict, accusing him of being a member of al-Ashrafiyah neighborhood council (Komîn) during the previous Autonomous Administration in Afrin. He was arrested upon his return from Aleppo to the occupied city of Afrin.

It’s worth noting that Turkish intelligence conducts security assessments of returning citizens to their villages and homes in the occupied city of Afrin, detaining them for interrogation on pre-prepared charges and preventing them from reclaiming their confiscated properties.
