In a recent development, Turkish authorities have been reported to persist in their practice of detaining Kurds in areas under their control in Northern Syria on preconceived charges as a means to extort money.
A young man from the Al-Bab region was arrested, while another resident of Afrin was released after paying a bail fee in the occupied city of Afrin.
According to details obtained by afrinpost, the Kurdish young man Mohammed Youssef (29 years old) from the rural area of Al-Bab was apprehended by the military police militia approximately one week ago from his workplace, a mobile phone store located on the Al-Sarfees Road in the Ashrafieh neighborhood.
On the other hand, the military police militia released Reber Mustafa, a resident of the village of Kurka Fawqani in the Mobata/Ma’batli sub-district, after he paid a bail of $300.
Reber (32 years old) was arrested on May 21 while he was heading to the transportation directorate, based on allegations of having connections with the former Autonomous Administration in Afrin.
It is worth noting that the military police militia, operating under Turkish authorities in Afrin, has previously detained individuals, including a woman, based on a list of names compiled with fabricated and ready-made charges, with the aim of extorting money.
