Armed militias affiliated with Turkish-backed Syrian National Army, in all its factions, persist in committing crimes and violations against the residents of the Afrin region in northern Syria. The prevailing security chaos, absence of law, and lack of accountability contribute to their audacity in perpetrating further crimes, even resorting to murder when faced with resistance against their continuous theft of locals’ properties.
In a recent incident, it is reported that an armed group from the Islamist militia “Faylaq al-Sham” occupying the village of Nuriyah/Sheikh Mohammadli in Rajo sub-district, brutally attacked elderly citizen Kamal Hassan Manan (65 years old) on June 11th. The assault was carried out with firearms and iron tools while he was guarding his wheat crop.
According to local sources, Kamal sustained head injuries and lost consciousness from the severe beating. Some residents rushed to his aid the following morning and transferred him to a medical center for treatment.
In a related incident, the house of citizen Ismat Mohammed was targeted in a burglary yesterday, June 13th. Unknown thieves ambushed him, using a sedative substance on his face, and proceeded to steal a gold artifact, a mobile phone, and two gas cylinders.
According to our correspondent, Ismat was alone in his residence located in the Sina’a neighborhood of Afrin city, as his wife had traveled to Jindires to collect relief aid.
