IDPs with ties to Turkish-backed militias continue to illegally sell homes and shops seized from Kurdish citizens more than five years ago in the occupied region of Afrin.
In one recent case, our reporter in Afrin said that an IDP from Ghouta sold the house of a citizen named “Mohammed Ali” from the village of Aranda in the Sheikh al-Hadid sub-district to his cousin, an IDP named “Mohammed al-Zarba”, for $850. The house is located near the Quban roundabout in the occupied city of Afrin.
Another IDP from Ghouta sold a house located above a clinic in al-Ashrafieh neighborhood, owned by citizen “Mohammed Dawood” from the town of Bulbul, dividing it into two parts and selling one part for $1,400 to a member of the Turkish-backed military police.
An IDP named “Mohammed Maroush” from the town of Retyan also sold a shop located near al-Ashrafieh Park to an IDP from Qalamoun for $800. The property belongs to citizen “Mohammed Hamo” from the village of Freyria in the Jindires sub-district.
